The result is a frame that combines aerodynamic efficiency, responsive handling and the stiffness needed for hard racing.
Whether you're attacking on a climb, descending at speed or sprinting out of a small group, the SLC5 is designed to perform across every type of terrain.
The SLC5 uses a blend of M46, M65, T800 and T1100 carbon fibres, with seven different layup configurations strategically positioned throughout the frame.
Finite Element Optimisation is used to place the correct carbon construction in key areas of the frame, balancing stiffness, weight and ride characteristics.
The result is a lightweight frame with direct power transfer and precise handling when the racing gets hard.
The SLC5's narrow and deep head tube reduces frontal area while directing airflow cleanly towards the top tube and down tube.
Its profile has also been optimised to reduce airflow separation in crosswinds, helping improve stability at higher speeds.
The down tube uses a progressively tapered, truncated airfoil profile designed to maintain attached airflow along the length of the frame.
The lower section of the down tube has been shaped to accommodate bottle cages while maintaining a clean airflow path around the bike.
Dropped and flattened seat stays help reduce drag and manage the airflow behind the rider.
The lower attachment point reduces frontal exposure and creates a cleaner path for air moving between the frame and the rider's legs.
A wide-set seat stay design also increases lateral stiffness, helping deliver responsive power transfer during hard accelerations and out-of-saddle efforts.
The SLC5's aerodynamic performance has been validated through repeated wind tunnel testing in both Japan and the UK.
Testing was carried out across different facilities, protocols and control standards, with multiple trials used to produce scientifically averaged results rather than relying on a single best-case test.
Compared with the previous generation, the SLC5 achieved a 0.011 reduction in CdA and a saving of more than 13 watts at 48 km/h.
These aerodynamic improvements were recorded consistently across multiple tests, riders and conditions.
